An approach towards the betterment of lives.

PSP's initiative to rehabilitate and mainstream the children of marginalized Sapera and other communities of Brij Mathura region.

For decades the Sapera community (snake- charmers) has been surviving on the practice of Snake-charming, a livelihood being passed from generation to generation. The banning of the practice of snake-charming under the Wildlife Protection Act brought about a lot of misery and uncertainty in the lives of the entire Sapera community, who had no other skills or means of sustenance.

Uplifting Sapera community through education and healthcare

The project Vasuki Shreyam is PSP's initiative to rehabilitate and mainstream the children of marginalized Sapera and other communities of Brij Mathura region. Children from these communities stay at VatslayaGram and are provided with formal education and all the other essential supports like shelter, food and healthcare services.

The program was started in 2015 and is a unique approach towards the betterment of the lives of the children of Sapera community. Education has been the key element in this initiative because only good education can shape the future of the young children of this community making them capable of being much more than snake charmers, a livelihood being passed on from generation to generation.

PSP has adopted 300 children of the Sapera community into the ambit of Vatsalya care at “VatsalyaGram” and has provided them with all the basic necessities and care with education that will eventually shape their future.
